Evening

Going back to the late 70s the reason for the branch line diesel to lead a
main line diesel loco:-
1/ Was for Transition changes.This ruling must have been changed over the
years to why they had to lead.Eg North Coast "Father & Son" Combination.
2/ If the front main line unit was in the "1 Minute band", the back unit(s)
of smaller traction capacity would be "cooking"(burning out) the taction
motors.
I think John Curry would answer this properly.
