[Ausloco] 4000 Class
Hello all,
As advised previously by Rob Ward, 4000 Class locomotives have now entered
service. The first 4 members of the 4000 Class, 4001 - 4004, were observed
(and photographed) in service today along the Moura line.
9Z02 hauled by 4001+4004 (back to back) were delayed at Mt Rainbow while the
railmotors (presumably 2031+2004) climbed the range from Fry to Mt Rainbow.
The wagon consist was 12 VAL + 42 VSN + 1 VAJ.
Arrival at Callemondah was at about 1235, about 40 late, according to Rob's
timetable. The train headed directly to the NRG Powerhouse to unload.
Waiting in Callemondah departure tracks for 9Z02 to clear the Byelle flyover
was 4002+4003 (elephant style) with 58 VSA coal wagons in tow - train number
unknown, but may have been 9Q49. (Rob, any idea of the number?).
With the 80 kph speed limit, photo opportunities are now reduced, in
comparison to some years ago, even allowing for the open country beyond
Calliope. The weather was overcast, as it generally has been for months on
end. Oh for a couple of days of sunshine!
