[Ausloco] ADMIN

Hello members,

First of all, we would like to thank Bob for giving us the opportunity
to take on and administer the Ausloco mailing list. I'm sure we will be
calling on Bob in the future, seeking advice and help until we get on
our feet.

As Bob has said in the past, the list is growing rapidly with new
subscribers joining every day. The amount of Ausloco postings is
climbing, almost to the point of having too many. To combat this, several
ideas were thought of, including a plan to stop taking on any more new
members. While this may possibly solve the problem, it might also stop
some very valuable people from joining the list, which is something we
don't want, therefore we need to cut down on off topic postings.

We have set up a Ausloco web page. The URL is

http://www.alphalink.com.au/~dougk/ausloco.html

There is more information there than what is contained in this email
and we now encourage ALL subscribers to read it. You will notice several
rules have been amended and a few new rules introduced which should help
to manage previous problems. Please have a look at the new rules as it
is in YOUR interests to do so. Should you want to comment on any of
these guidelines please feel free to contact the administrators OFF LIST.
Not having read the rules will not be an excuse if you break any!

As has been said before, we do not want virus warnings posted. There
have been a couple of instances recently where a contributor has posted
a message with what appeared to be a virus attached. If this happens and
you feel inclined to say something, by all means let the person who
posted it know, with an "OFF LIST" message to inform them of what has
happened, and please remember they would not have done it on purpose,
so don't get nasty!!

Off topic postings: Basically, lets all try to stick to the guidelines.
If anybody reads something in Ausloco that they would like to comment on
further that isn't within the lists' guidelines, we recommend the
RailAusTalk or RailAus Model email listings. These groups are
unmoderated and are an ideal place to discuss Ausloco email messages
when they 'stray' away from Ausloco guidelines. You can find out more
about these email groups and how to subscribe by visiting:

http://www.sydney.cyber.net.au/~mainline/mllinks.html

Please also remember if you have a personal comment related to an
Ausloco posting, you can always reply to the sender "off list".
Use the reply function on your email program, however be sure to change
the email address so that only the intended recipient gets the email,
and not the whole list.

As it has been brought to attention recently, we would appreciate it if
people don't send postings in HTML, or add attachments. If you feel you
have something that others may want, ask them to contact you off list
or give a web site address.

If anybody sends us or another list member threats, insults or abuse,
they will be removed from the list. Recently Bob had to deal with an
abusive member, and since we don't really want to be put in this
situation, we need to issue this warning. Anybody who abuses this rule
will be removed immediately with no exceptions.

If anybody has any general questions or would like to comment on the
content of Ausloco, please feel free to contact us at:
