RE:[Ausloco] thanks and a question

Dear Troy,
I do not agree with your suggestion of removing sigtings from Ausloco.

The whole idea of Ausloco is to keep people informed of the differant things that are happening on the Australian Railway sceen whether it is locomotive happening or sightings.

The reason why all sightings appear to be from only the east coast is because Qld and WA have their own chat groups and do not wish be a part of Ausloco.

Believe it or not there are actualy people out there that actualy injoy reading sightings from differant part of Australia and this helps people stay in touch with differant systems around Austalia that they may never get to see.

So as far as I am concened, If you don't like reading the sightings that appear on Ausloco, DONT READ THEM and read something that you would like to read instead and stop putting stupid, useless, time and space wasting postings on Ausloco.

So if you can't handle that get off Ausloco, and find some boring chat group somewhere else,(Ausloco is not boring)..

Woodrow.

<----- Original Text ----->

Thanks to John and Peter for their info on canefield locos, my
curiousity is now appeased.

My question relates to the reason why loco sightings are posted to
this list. According to the archives there are 265 members not all of
whom live within easy travelling distance of the sighting. Besides
which even if they did it's usually gone by the time people check
their email.

My reason for asking is that I read in the archives about the off
topic postings issue. I gather the fundamental reason for this is the
waste of bandwidth and that people don't want to have to read
information they cannot use. Doesn't the sightings reports fit under
this criteria?

Since most of the sightings reports seem to be focused around the
Sydney/Melbourne areas it would be interesting to know what others who
live outside this area think. Is it something that they desire? Is it
something they tolerate? Is it something that that they wish was moved
to another list so they didn't have to wade through it to find the
gems on this list. In other words the discussion about motive power
trends.

Just pondering while I work on an assignment.

Troy
