Re: [Ausloco] Austrac up north
This raises some interesting questions.
As EL's are not permitted beyond Wee Waa, did 4814 work the train to
Merrywinebone solo?
Where were the EL's stabled, Narrabri West or Wee Waa?
What was the load of the train?
The load for a 48 class on the branch is 1020 tonnes. I would gather by the
horsepower sent North, the load was more than 1020 tonnes or did Austrac
hand the train over to another operator for the run on the branch?
Or did they hire another loco from someone up there?
Of course, the track might have been upgraded right through to Merrywinebone
since I worked up there in the early 90's, so I might babbling on about
nothing, but then, that wouldn't be the first time.
Anyway, something to think about. Any thoughts anyone?
Cheers

tilt it back fill it with wheat close and seal the door lay it back flat and

through at 0635hrs with 3xEL's and 4814 with a long string of container
wagons. He was too busy getting some shots to note engine numbers.
