Re: [Ausloco] 422 rebuilds
If what I have been told is correct, and it is still subject to
confirmation, it would appear that 42210 and 42219 will be going in
operable condition whilst the rest will be units with no traction motors
and life expired wheels ex 81 class. There is also a suggestion they
will go West via Binnaway and actually be hauled by 42210 and 19. Having
made all these suggestions it is all yet to be confirmed just who the
buyer is. It would make sense for ATN to buy these units as their L
class are too heavy to run on branchlines.
With regard to shortage of 645E spares, I have no knowledge of any such
situation. Clyde don't make any locomotive engine parts. They are the
Australian licence holder and agents for EMD spares. At La Grange EMD
hold spares for 645 and even 567 engines.
Cheers
