Ausloco Discussion Group,
I have recently tried two new Kodak slide films and found the results most
impressive. I might add that these comments might help someone and I do not wish
to get into a slanging match about the "best" slide film. One man's cake is
another man's poison! Normally I use Fuji Sensia 11.
Elite Chrome Extra Colour 100ASA:
The amateur version of the two emulsions. Most
impressive.
Excellent colours with no colour cast. Very sharp
and handles contrasty scenes well. Excellent for FreightCorp blue and Freight
Australia green. Although it says "extra colour" this is quite natural and not
super saturated. Grain is very fine.
Ektachrome E100VS Professional Film:
Superb. The sharpness is unbelievable. No colour
cast and also handles contrasty scenes well. Also handles the new liveries
excellently. Like the amateur version does not over saturate. Very fine grain.
The only drawback is the higher cost of the film.
I rated both at 125ASA but you would have to make
your own tests.
Hoping this information is of use and does not stir
up controversy. If anyone is interested I can offer some comments on the two C41
process Black and White films which are highly regarded in professional
circles.
Regards,
Peter Booth
