It is hard to tell but by looking at the sleepers and access road crossing
before the points, the last bogie on the third carrage (68M) had been
de-railed for a while and once the derailed bogies hit the single compound
everything else followed. (173M, 1929T and 113M all off expect the last
bogie of 113M sitting on the single compound.
Last night about 11pm they had draged the first three carrages forward and
got the last bogie of 68M onto the tracks again and looked ready to drive
that three cars away under its own power.
As for the other three carriges left since almost all the bogies are in the
dirt, the front bogie of 173M looks stuffed and the right hand track (for
the direction of the train) is rolled over and spread it wil be interesting
to see how they get this train out today.
Frankston/Dandenong trains are currently routed via the Caulfield Local
lines (Caulfield Through is too close to the De-Railed train) Sandringham
trains are using the emergancy crossover at Elsternwick and buses between
Elsternwick and South Yarra. (Why not single line running like the City
Link Shut down?)
Just to include some loco news, while I was at Richmond last night T388 +
T3?? (both orange) passed through about 10:55pm on the Dandenong/Lyndhurst
Cement Train. (Sounded great powering up the hill in the dark quite night)
Regards,
Chris Gordon
