Mark,
I often passed Jolimont in the early-mid '80s when the green/gold was
about and the Es were being withdrawn. The only green / gold loco (apart
from visiting BLs and 930s) was V56, which was used as the Jolimont car
wash shunter. No Es were ever green / gold.

I've just picked up a copy of the ARHS Williamstown Railway Museum Guide
Book and in relation to the VR 'E' class electrics they state that One
of lthe class was later allocated as yard pilot at Jolimont passenger
yard and painted green and gold.
I knew they were used as yard pilots at Jolimont - but green and gold?
Can anyone shed any light on this as I have not heard of the E class
being painted anything other than the original black and then into the
traditional VR blue and gold?
