The CR leg had CL1+GM47+GM25. GM47 had mu connections at both ends whereas
GM25 did not, so GM47 had to be in the middle.  CL1 could have hauled the
load by itself but this was the Inaugural Train!
There were 2 divisions from Sydney to Port Pirie.
The first division was all first class with the VIPs and the second division
was all economy with the press.
A 600+830 took the 2nd division from Broken Hill to Port Pirie.
At Port Pirie the two divisions were combined taking advantage of Pt Piries
long platform.
CL1 had not long been delivered from Clyde Eng at Granville.

The 421s did not last long out west due to their bad riding bogies on 80lb
track.

I will try to find out more loco numbers.
