Patrick Buchanan's occasional reminisces on the
good old days are always interesting.
I thought I would blow the cobwebs off my notebook
to recall a trip I did around NSW in March 1975 using a first class Nurail pass.
The cost was $60.00 plus assorted berth,meals fees etc.

Central- Albury 2000 Sthn Aurora CL1 ! A bit
expensive but CL1 was being trialled prior to the Railway dept making up their
minds on whether to order new high hp locos.23'late into Albury.I put this in as
a novelty trip making a change from 422s & 44s.

The good thing about Nurail passes is that one
could use them on all forms of NSW PTC transport.Extra cost was involved from
the border ( Broken Hill and Border Loop- yes I managed to talk the booking
clerk into excess fare from this location and not Kyogle. A most enjoyable 2
weeks.
I did two more trips with Nurails in 1976 &
1979. If anyone is interested let me know and I will post them in the fullness
of time.
