[Ausloco] More Alco's...... on the North Shore line Sydney
The following sightings were seen today on the North Shore line in Sydney.
At present there is a weekend shutdown on the North Shore to allow ballast
cleaning, overhead wire maintenance and station platform maintenance to be
performed.
Ballast cleaning was undertaken on the down just south of Roseville station.
A work train of side dump wagons was situated on the up at around 11:00am
(24/6). The train was partly loaded with fresh ballast which was dumped
after the old ballast had been removed by excavators. The loco's involved
were 4862+4885+48146. It would appear that one of the side dump wagons
loaded with spoil was mistakenly discharged next to the platform at
Roseville. Currently there is about 20 tonnes of ballast sitting on the
gardens and signal cabling trays.
Ballast cleaning was undertaken on the down between Killara and Gordon
stations. A work train was situated on the up at around 9:30pm (24/6) with
8144(not quite an Alco)+48112. Ballast cleaning here was undertaken by rail
mounted ballast cleaners.
Regards
Nick
