[Ausloco] Rockhampton Happenings

Hello All,

4000 Class

As well as working selected Moura line (Moura Mine and Boundary Hill)
coalies, these locos continue to be used on one of the coalies on the
Blackwater system. Generally it is 9E01/9E02 (return 9F01/9F02). But every
so often delays seem to cause their use on a later train. For example, on
Sat 28/7, 9E01 was the rostered train, but the actual 4000 class loco hauled
train was 9K17 (return 9F17) - a 0900 Callemondah departure instead of 0100.

Sunday 29/7 was the same. Departure was listed as 9E11 (different train for
a change) at 0600, but the train wasn't through Marmor until 1030, about 3
hours late. This is understandable as the Saturday return working was still
at Dingo at about 2130. Locos were 4008+4003 (elephant style), and 4007 at
the rear.

(Note: these notes refer to weekend workings, but presumably the week days
are little different; although Callide Mine does not seem to load trains on
weekends.)

Railmotors

2004+2032 were still parked in the platform dock (Platform No. 5)on Saturday
evening. The railmotors had been in use during the week as 2004 was facing
north (with "Stuart" on the destination roll). The weekend before, 2032 was
facing north. By Sunday afternoon, the railmotors had gone. I don't know
where they worked. Anybody else know?

Wheel lathe

3520 went south as a vehicle on C740(?) this morning. It was seen behind
3910 at Marmor at 0725, bound for the Mayne wheel lathe.

6W46

Continuing the practice over the last few months of a 90t and 60t diesel on
western freights, 2483D+1740D (back to back) went west this afternoon on
6W46.

Overhead problems

The overhead power was switched off between Epala and Gracemere for about an
hour on Saturday morning - don't know the reason. C245 and C257(?) had to
be diesel hauled from Bajool and Raglan(?) to bring them into Rockhampton.
2171F+2479 were attached to 3914 on C257 to haul the train to R'ton.

Cheers,

Bruce
