Gday, My last trip out of what Railway Blokes knew as Hartley Vale Colliery
was in 1985. I think I had a pair of 85 class, but all three classes of
Electric Engines would of hauled trains out of there. This pit has been
reopenned a lot of times with as many different names. The coal has a very
high ash content so it was not very popular. It used to be blended with
other types of Coal.
