Sounds like the L's are running well as I predicted [with a
little help of course!] Was one still a little smokey? I thought that
it might have just been injector settings, and that would have been
an easy one for RTS.
Cannot wait to be put away for one, to hear for myself. Last week 29
hoppers came through Wodonga on the UP with L leading an EL, but I
heard a little as it accelerated past House Creek, in the distance.
I believe I have heard them when at home, as I tried to sleep. Either
way it is nice to see another Colour scheme in the North East.
Have had some Private E mail concerning the Chineese Hoppers.
I have been told that the construction of these wagons is in actual
fact better than what we are used to, here in Australia. My mates
must have been ill informed, and in any case South Dynon Locomotive
Depot employees [my information came from three Dynon Drivers and Two
Fitters at The Sth. Dynon Fueling Point] would never have had
anything to do with these wagons.
I am also told that no modifications have been made to the brake
gear, apart from fine tuning, and setting the brakes up correctly.
ATN acted responsibly as would any Company concerned with their
Customers, and ability to perform the work contracted for. And tested
the train under all situations that could be met, first with a light
load, which despite the problems that obviously occurred, were within
the capabilities of the equipment and the crews. New equipment, new
customers, new employees and new silos as well!
I have written the above because it does concern me that I may have
implied that my knowledge was first hand from RTS themselves, and
that I thought that ATN's wagons and Locos would not be able to do
the
job. This was not my intention, And with any thing that I report to
the
group, I do so as a train buff first and a Freight Australia Driver
second. This must be the way it is. My boss is not here to play
trains, and I hear sensitive things at work at times, that I could
not post here, as being commercially sensitive to my boss.
I should have deleted my post about difficulties with ATN's hoppers,
because now I am told that it was damaging to them. That was not my
intention. But I should still be able to share with fellow buffs!
I need to work out the parameters though.
