Observation at Stockinbingal on occasions shows that down trains are brought into the remaining platform (formerly the up platform) via a hand signal or flag, in order to perform the safeworking requirements and then despatched to their correct line. I don't know what happens if Stock. is unattended but I think that that is rare
anyway.
