Cross Country Express
Aus loco discussion mailing list
Afternoon all,
The special left MSS (Spencer Street) pfm 1 OT at 11.50am with 44211 leading
4201 with both units powering. 4201 sounded great as the crew notched her up
for the grade up and over the flyover. The train was pretty full.
The consist of the train is:
44211-4201-VHO.1816-IFS.2166-RFN.2187-NAM.2374-2335-LAN.2348-NAM.2338-2375-F
AM.2392-LAN.2377-NAM.2373-BCS.2356-RMS.2359-LAN.2352-PHA.2394
The ex Southern Auroroa cars are looking very tired. The IFS and RFN buffet
looked pretty good, however there were large transfers on the side of the
IFS car advertising the Cross Country Express. The VHO van was interesting
... first time I have seen a VHO in the flesh so to speak.
While waiting for the train A.71-A.73 were busily making up a Gippsland(?)
goods with about 15-20 conflats which included a shunting movement over the
flyover.
Great Northern's T.377 and another T were on the Spencer Street flyover with
the rail train.
I hope this is of interest.
