XPTs and Bulldogs

G'day all,

Over the weekend whilst attending a enthusiast outing, two items made me
prick up my ears.

1. If the XPT from Sydney is more than 90' late, then ARTC will refuse
to let it run to Melbourne. All passengers are then bussed forward as
well as the passengers ex Melbourne. This is a very worrying business
because it then begs the question - who are the trains being run for?
The passengers or ARTC.

2. A gathering of bulldog nosed locos is to be held at South Dynon? (or
somewhere in Melbourne). All surviving classes of bulldog nosed locos
will be represented at the gathering incl 42 and 421.

Can anyone shed any light on either of the above items.
