Is this really the end of Freightcorp 422s? There is a story kicking
round in Newcastle that 42203 & 42220 will be used on a trial to Pelton
in the coming weeks. There is some suggestion that "some" 422s could be
rebuilt to 3000hp and return for 'selected trains'. I'll keep you all informed
if anything happens on that front. Also 42207 has now been stripped of
good traction motors and wheels making it the last of the good units at
Werris Creek.

Aus loco discussion mailing listEvening all,
Well, the 422 class send off turned out to be a disappointment for those of
us that I came across.
Late running seemed to be the order of the day, with the cross at Tarago
with SP21 taking over half an hour, plus it was fairly hot down that way
which made conditions uncomfortable.
And to make things worse, one of the old girls was having trouble with her
auxilliary generator and it was decided to add 8141 in the lead at Goulburn.
I left the train at Goulburn at 1700 and it still hasn't turned up here in
Bargo although it had to attach loading in Berrima.
Still, I did get to meet some fellow Auslocoers which made up in part for an
overall disappointing day.
Very little running on the main south which didn't help matters.
Can anybody confirm locos on 2PW4 this morning? I managed to forget to write
them down. May have been NR95(?)/107.
Best regards
Ivar
