Query re sighting at Cheltenham (NSW)

Aus loco discussion mailing list

At 1030 Sunday 9/1/00 an up train passed Cheltenham (NSW) with 81 + 48 +
48 and a medium length string (maybe 15?) of old-style wheat hoppers. I
do not know whether they were loaded.

This seems a rather strange train on the short north (and it was far too
big a train to be likely to be an extension of a North Strathfield
shunting trip, although such trains do sometimes run to Hornsby to run
round).

Theories please re likely origin and destination?

Eddie Oliver
