8211+4846+48138 waited at North until DL41/49 arrived from Cringila exchange sidings with a rake of Koppers tanks and BHP BXLA hoppers. These went around the loop allowing the FreightCorpse train to leave early/mid-afternoon.

As a matter of interest, just where is "Heggies Siding"?

At North, NR's 71 / 84 / 103 / 85 were on one road; NR58 / 43 on the next; DL47 was shunting, sporting patchy yellow bogies and the remains of silver paint on the tyres. The "Out of Gauge" Accommodation car AH811 was also in the yard and was attached to the Koppers tanks to be forwarded north later in the afternoon behind NR71 - now know that it was destined for the ladles working.

NR-liveried 8117 was shut down in Port Kembla re-fuelling shed with 8141 / 8156 outside prior to working an empty grain up the hill.

G522 / X45 were shut down and logs were being transhipped to a fleet of semi trailers to work the very short distance (less than one km!) around the to ship 'Asteriks' - that makes three transhipments just to get the logs onto the boat...

Port Kembla Grain Terminal:
8103 / 8123 brought in grain train rake GT5, then much later (16:55) worked light engine to Port Kembla shed
8144 / 8113 arrived with GT3;
8157 was doing solo with GT4 to the unloader (and plenty of limited wheel slip being handled by the 'Super Series' equipment);
8141 / 8156 worked light engine around from Port Kembla loco to attach to GT7 and departed up the hill late afternoon.
At Dombarton, they waited to cross 2 x 81 with GT8 coming down the hill - a crew swap took place here.

D34+D47 were seen very late in the afternoon on the way back from the colliery loader to the steelworks with another coal train - we passed them whilst on our way up to Dombarton.

Early in the day, we had called into Goulburn station and it is the first time I have not seen a loco in the yard although there was a short rake of V/Line vans in the back platform road (not quite the same thing...). At 10:30, we saw 8148 and hoppers crawling through the OMYA unloader at Berrima junction whilst 8165 waited with another rake. Last sighting of the day was 8128 on the Canberra empty oil pots at 20:41 near Wingello. All in all, a great day for sighting 81 class!

As it was quiet at work I took my lunch over to Cringila to see what was around. D34+D47 came in with a loaded BHP coalie immediately followed by 102+101 with another loaded coalie. After these had passed D43 proceeded west LE. Set L1 passed Cringila with one of the destination displays reading Olympic Park.
I headed back to CRM just in time to see 8211+4846+48138 coming out of the Heggies siding with a load of ore containers. It proceeded around the loop past the NRC offices and stopped at Port Kembla North. I had thought these trains were run by NRC.
Regards,
Chris.
