Got to ride in C508 for an hour or so a few saturdays back
shunting the steel terminal, (thanks NRC driver), passed through today and 8124
was doing the job. This is unusual as it is usually one of the C`s or an NR.
Anyhow Donnybrook pub bar window later on saw X40 (FV) light engine on the down
at about 5.15pm, and down NR freight cross the up NR seelie at the loop at about
5.50pm.(both trains 2xNR class). The down must have crossed the up XPT at Wallan
loop as it rushed through at about 6.20pm....(The Wallan and Somerton loops are
now operational after being extended to accomodate 1500m trains). Allthat aside
I have been working at "NILMA" this week and camping at "YARRAGON" and
have noticed the "down paper train" has commonly had Quad combo of AXXP,ATXP,
and the odd H and the up log train has also had common Quad combos of THP
and X classes. Its Seymour next week so if anything interesting happens I shall
report;
regards MAURIE.........
