Aus loco discussion mailing list

The Freight Victoria Grain Services fromThe Rock and Coolomon to Appelton
Dock Melbourne have not yet commenced, however a trial run from these two
locations was carried out in late December using two 47 class(on the branch)
an an X class as bank engine (on the main line) . The purpose was to test
grain weighing equiptment and make adjustments to the loading nozzels.

There is about 60,000 tonnes of grain stored at The Rock loading facility
about 2 km along the Boree Creek branch from the Junction and it is expected
that this will be moving when the loading facility in Melbourne is ready

I will post these movements as they occur.

In late December there was also a trial movement of grain from Boree Creek
to Portland (Victoria) using a T class on the branch.

I might add that regular quin lashups occur into and out of The Rock when
freight corp grain trans operate on the Boree Creek Branch.

There has not been a movement on the Branch now for about 6 weeks, but once
again considerable grain is stored at Milbrualong, Lockhart and Boree Creek.
