Re: "Pointy" & "Blunty" in Victoria

Aus loco discussion mailing list

G'day all,

I'm still getting over Good Fridays' parallel drag between the two "eighters" (3801 & 3830) & the two (one `hot' and the other a `not so hot') R classes (R711 & R761).

To all those people (there were hundreds at least) who stood in glorious Autumn sunshine at Glenrowan (Vic) and witnessed the parallel drag up the grade and through that SG loop/BG yard remnants, I'm very envious!
I was too many cars back in the BG consist to get "full bottle" of this magnificent "storming of the grade". What a sight and sound spectacular that was!!

Where else in the world can you see four steam locos with two trains running parallel for a couple of hundred kilometres or so at speed? Australia... the "lucky country".

On a sad and anticlimactic note however, anyone know what happened to "Blunty" between Kilmore East & Somerton Loop? Will 3830 (I'm going straight on descriptions now!) "get a guernsey" for the rest of the trip through western Vic?

See ya   AH
