To add to the steamy Sunday atmosphere 24 and 18 were sometimes ( often?)
seen together in the section platforms 11-15,
even though the arrival times were over an hour apart.  From 1964
onwards, 18 was the only real steam Express on the South, running non
stop from Goulburn to Bundanoon.  The cars off 24,  set 115+ TBC (  or
MBE) ran to Gosford, returned in the early morning, with a 46 and then
ran down the coast to Kiama on the 07.57 behind a 48.  NIB 111 worked an
early morning return to Blacktown ( leaving Central about 7am from
memory) and then the 3.38pm to Katoomba, returning at 5.45 pm, hauled by
a 46.
About a year before this, 24 was worked by a 32 class, usually on a CUB
set.
