7 car HUB set, 310 tons.  Max. load up Cowan Bank 325 tons. Tabled 14 minutes. However, when electrification works were in progress, a banker was added at HR in case the train was brought to a stand on the Bank.
Late  in the 1960s a van was added to 24/71, but this was well after Gosford electrification.

HI
I was told by an old loco driver today that the Newcastle flyer (pulled by a
38) was a 8 to 10 car train. If so it would require help up Cowan bank. I
through it was a no-stop service made up of a 7 car HUD set which did't
require help. What is the largest load of a 38 with 245psi up the 1 in 50
and 1 in 40 of Cowan bank.

Thank you
Stephen
