At Canberra on 1/4 were 8039/8007 at 10.30 am.  Quite a pleasant surprise.
 
    8039 was still equipped with the stobe light and blue marker lights when it was used by BHP.  Is there any reason why 8018 never returned to service after being trailed by BHP.  It now lives with the three rail tractors at Port Kembla.  I'm not sure but did it suffer a major failure whilst being trailed.
 
Other locos sighted yesterday were :
8184 - Goulburn on a limestone train 9am - not there at 2pm though the wagons were
8158, 8607 - Enfield at 4pm
8163 - Botany 5pm
    Didn't quite reach my alco quota for the day, but theres always tomorrow !

I sighted 8035 and 8025 on the gravel train at Rozelle this morning. Looks like this train may be the last to see regular 80 class workings however it appears that there have been a few loco shortages in recent days where a spare 80 or 2 would have come in handy.

Lithgow: 8007, 8011, 8015, 8017, 8025, 8033, 8035, 8039 & 8047.
Of this group, I know that 8007 and 8035 (and possible others) are equipped
with the appropriate radio gear to allow them to lead state wide. These
units will appear from time to time on the Canberra oil trains and other
selected services but no specific working patterns are in existance at

I have been advised that Freighcorp is conducting a major reshuffle of its
loco allotments and I should have details late next week. This is due to the
closing of Port Kembla as a loco depot.
