Notes:
Last Sunday we saw some nice lash ups on B/G grain trains, including one
loaded train with 57 wagons. Due to the extra down Overland last Saturday night we saw two
freight trains on the up with the Overland BL on one train and the baggage and power cars
on another train. Mondays up Overland must have had some problems with the BL as it turned
up at Gheringhap with a NR on the front of the BL and was over four hours late which in
turn made other up S/G trains late.The up GHAN on Wednesday was 41 minutes early for a
change. And the talking point of the weekend was the derailment of Fridays down SCT at
Elders block point Corio which is about 20 K's on the up side of
Gheringhap. This made a lot of trains very late, cancelled or combined. Which as helped to
make this weeks sightings numbers down to 105. Saturdays up Overland only made it to North
Shore station (Geelong) where it off loaded the passengers then it had to push the train
back to Gheringhap
(about 15 K's) where the BL run around the train and headed off West as empty cars which
also included the passengers motor cars. They came back on a NRC freight but would not
have got into Melbourne until the early hours of Sunday.
