Kalgoorlie Derailment

Reported on Perth radio 8 am 18/1/99 - derailment near Kalgoorlie will
take 3 days to clear and will affect 'Prospector' services for this
time. Unfotunately Qantas declined my request to do a low fly over the
area en route to Melbourne.
A slight aside that I hope won't draw the wrath of S. Sgt Bromage -
out of 3 scheduled flights I travelled in the last 3 days late
departures ex airports were 35 min, 30 min & 30 mins respectively. On
Sat night an 1800 Mildura service was scheduled out @ 2030 account
unserviceable aircraft discovered @ 1100. 9.5 hours to effect repairs.
Whilst rail has its detractors, the above late running is totally
accepted by passengers!!
