As reported elsewhere DL44 and DL47 went north on YN2 steel train behind
NR35 and NR63, I watched them pass through Gosford at 11:50 PM. The DLs
were definitely powering, and the train was fairly large in size. While
waiting for this, 4851 raced through on the up with the return Tamworth
speedfreight with one cement wagon and 8 fuel tanks all empty.

Now for the interesting bit. These locos will form the return
service NP2, which usually departs Newcastle about 3am. It is slated to
leave Lelightonfield approx 9 am this morning, will make for an
excellent chase south in daylight. One can presume that the DLs are
heading to Melbourne or Adelaide for servicing.

Also sighted earlier in the evening were PL1 and PL2. I saw them at
Lidcombe heading to Clyde or Yenorra (not quite sure) with one empty
container flat in tow at 9:25 pm last night.

One last thing, AN8 was noted in undercoat inside Chullora workshops on
Monday, presumably to emerge in the NR colours later this week. If all
goes to plan, it may leave Sydney on Friday, if not early next week.

Plenty of things happening at once.

I hope this helps
