Freight trains through Redfern.

I've just spent a very hectic day videoing loco hauled trains passing
through Redfern. Due to a closure of the freight lines at Homebush,
all northern traffic either going to or coming from southern
destinations had to first run into Sydney Yard then reverse back out.

Locos/trains recorded were: 8169, empty spoil out of Syd; CPH
railmotors into and out of Syd; 8175 & 8180 LE into Syd; 4401, SL65
out of Syd; 8149 & 8183, 9572 in to Syd; 8175 & 8180, 9572 out of Syd;
42220, SL15 out of Syd; 8013 & 4865, ballast into & out of Syd; NR63 &
NR90, LE into Syd; NR101, Great Southern Pacific Express into Syd;
8108, LE into Syd; NR4 & NR68, 6MB4 into Syd; NR63 & NR90, 6MB4 out of
Syd; 8027 & 48154, empty spoil into and out of Syd; 8108 & NR101
push/pull, Great Southern Pacific Express out of & into Syd; NR58 &
NR62, 6BA6 into Syd; 8108, LE out of Syd; NR4 &NR68, 6BA6 out of Syd;
8112/NR48 & NR42 push/pull, 7SB7 into Syd; NR48 & NR42, 7SB7 out of
Syd; 8112, LE out of Syd; NR41 & NR56, 6BM4 into Syd; NR58 & NR4, 6BM$
out od Syd; 8173, spoil into & out of Syd; 8208 & 8252, 6BS9 into Syd;
NR101, Great Southern Pacific Express out of Syd.

I hope all of the above makes sense. The National Rail freights ran
all the way to the buffers at Sydnet Terminal, leaving the ends of the
trains around the Sydeny end of Redfern station. The first NR train in
wa 6MB4. A pair of NRs that had arrived ealier LE and waited in
Elstons sidings at Elstons sidings then attached to the rear of the
train and hauled it further south. The NRs off 6BM4 proceeded to
Elstons to wait for the next superfreighter, and so on. With the
exception of 9572 flour train, all the freight corp trains had their
locos run around the train in Sydney Yard.

The above action will make a great segment in a future "Diesel Diary"
video.
