X on WMB pass, and other hassles...

G'day,

8237 Friday 15/8 had S300 leading X37....because......
S302 failed on 8232 at Terang, totally disabled acc. crankcase
explosion. Rescued by A78 (VLF loco at WMB), which then ran 8246.

So...

8217 terminated at Colac, B61 was runaround and returned to GEX no. 2
end leading (Colac Turntable is booked out - ran at line speed
nonetheless) as train 8260 (replacing 8232), turn loco at Geelong
(15:55-16:13), arrive Spencer Street 17:11, then those cars formed 8237
with S+X, the X had to replace the A at WMB to run the goods that
night. An additional bus ran MSS-XCO acc. only 4 cars on 8237 (the
other set had 5, it would have formed 8237 had things gone to plan).

Not a good day.....I was Conny on 8217/60 from GEX-XCO-MSS, then 8237
MSS-WIA then 46 from WIA-MSS. Certainly the worst day I've had on the
job. You wouldn't believe it, there was a minor niggle with S300
delaying departure, so at 18:10 I asked the crew and platform
supervisors if it would be best to send Geelong passengers over onto the
18:21 local. Yes they say, so I announce that on the PA, Geelong
passengers start leaving....30 secs later my driver is on the radio
"we're ready to go now" !!!!! So I usher the Geelong commuters back on
and got going at 18:12. Unbelievable.

Cheers,
CH.
