Both classes were initially used as branchline
locos in the west (based at Alpha) and southwest (based at Roma) of the
state, as well as for shunting around the state. Soon afterwards, all the
1600s were based at Alpha. The 1620s followed on from the success of the
1600s, and were used in the central and northern areas of Qld. In recent
times, they have become surplus, with most being scrapped. Some have been
sold to John Holland for use in the Philippines, while a couple of others
were on loan to MIM for a while. |
