Zig Zag station is on CityRail's interurban electric rail network on eht main western line from Sydney. The only purpose of the station is as a transfer point to the reconstructed Zig Zag Railway, which was the original route by which the railway ascended the Blue Mountains. The tiny platform can only hold about 6 people, and to catch a train, passengers must signal the driver. At night, a lamp is used instead of the disc. Zig Zag station is one of the few places in the world where a green signal (disc or lamp) is used to stop a train. To alight, passengers must tell the guard before the train gets there.
