Level Crossings
All of the 7 current level Crossings on the Broadmeadows line are of the modern automated boom type, there is also one automated level crossing on the Flemington Racecourse line at Epsom Road. There are two that are now Road Over bridges at Pascoe Vale and Camp Roads.

Shown here during crossing works in early-mid 1999, when concrete sleepers were being installed under the road. It is a very busy crossing located at the south end of Kensington Station, it is subject to Grain trains shunting over it and Frequent VLP services and Suburban trains to Broadmeadows and the Showgrounds/Flemington Racecourse (seasonal). Ascot Vale Road - Flemington [Flemington Racecourse line]
This level crossing is located on the Flemington Racecourse line at Ascot Vale Road, this crossing was upgraded from manually operated gates to automated booms in July 1997. The offical date for the boom barriers was 23/7/1997 (the date they started to work). This was to allow for stabling of Upfield trains that could not go through due to City Link works. Located at the southern end of Moonee Ponds Station, this level crosssing causes long delays in Puckle and surrounding Streets, it is proposed that Moonee Ponds station be relocated underground if the airport rail link goes ahead, as the gates would be down more often than up.

The Park Street level crossing was also upgraded with concret sleepers at the same time as Macauly Road.

Located at the south end of Essendon Station, the Buckley Street level crossing once had 5 tracks crossing it. This was reduced to 3 when Essendon Signal box was replaced by a panel in the station building. In old times it would have been busy with shunting from both the now removed north and south sidings at Essendon Station. Pascoe Vale Road - Strathmore (Now road over bridge)

The Gaffney Street crossing is at the northern end of Pascoe Vale station.
Approximately 500m from Oak Park Station, the Devon Road Crossing is at the final corner before the long steep climb toward Glenroy.

At the south end of Glenroy Station, this crossing has, to the best of my knowledge, also been upgraded to concret sleepers. Camp Road - Broadmeadows (now a road over bridge)
