The "Goodman & Fielder Siding"

In the map (map coming soon - sorry!) , it can be seen that the sidings have change rather dramatically since their early days, there used to be a goods line on the west side of the existing lines, to hold goods trains during arrival, and departure for Melbourne Yard.

The old sidings used to service the side of the Warehouse and were much more extensive, although I am not sure of the time that these sidings were 'rationalised', it may have been around the time that the Goods line was removed.  This was done on the 28-10-1986

As can be seen in the photos, there is still a siding for grain to be delivered to the silos on the east side of the main line.  In 1944 the sidings were called "W S Kimpton and Sons Sidings", They are now the "goodman Fielder Sidings"

The grain hoppers are emptied with a rail tractor, while they are usually delivered with a P/T class loco.  For more detail about the movements on this siding, visit the    The grain hoppers are emptied with a rail tractor, while they are usually delivered with a P class loco, P19,20 & 21 are regular visitors.  For more detail about the movements on this siding, visit the sightings page.

The current lengths are as follows:

A1@ 363m
A2@ 363m
B@ 38m (thats the end bit where the rail tractor lives)

@ means NOT wired (ie no overhead wire)
