Z1, number 1 has just returned to service following a complete
repainting.  It is working out of Glen Huntly Depot, and has no trolley
catchers on it.  Also, the W class that still had them ( 938 ) has just
had them removed within the past few weeks.  Drivers were complaining
that the rope would get caught under them and pull the pole off the
wire, and of course, rather than fixing the catchers and putting the
ropes back in, they were just removed.   There are still a few out of
service, in storage Ws that still have catchers.
