The Flemington Racecourse line was far more attractive to build in its day
(than Waverly today), as it services both the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds
and Flemington Racecourse. Also, during the course of its existance, it
played a massive freight role, with sidings plastered on all sides of it for
at least half its length. (most for cattle) Now if there were something
like that out at waverly too, that the line could service, maybe the line
would have been built.
