ARHS WA Railfest 1999

We are Celebrating 40 years of the ARHS in Western Australia and the Museums
25th birthday this Sunday 28/11/99 at The Rail Transport Museum 136 Railway
Parade Bassendean.

Some highlights of the day will be:

S549 "Greenmount" in steam for photo runbys and shunting demonstrations

Railway Swapmeet - 14+ stands of merchandise including our major archival
cleanout of duplicate WA and other non WA items.

Display of the history of the museum.

Diesel Power Parade featuring 2 National Rail Locomotives (an NR + ??) and
up to 4 Westrail Locomotives including a "Q", refurbished "L" , with a good
chance of an "S" and "P" class representing narrow gauge. All locomotive
displays are subject to availability on the day. Westrail will also have
drivers on duty to discuss the finer points of the locomotives. Don't miss
this chance to get inside and up close!!

Refreshments from Ex AUSTRALIND Buffet AYD 550 and a sausage sizzle

Kids activities, including pump trolley and fire engine rides, Drive
yourself model railway , colouring in.

Official Ceremony at 2.00 p.m. with VIP's including Life Members, Minister
of Transport, Acting Commissioner for Railways, Federal, State and Local
Politicians.
This will be followed by the cutting of a special birthday cake.

First Release of Philippa Roger's new book  "TROOPS, TRAINS and TRADES"
Railways in W.A. during WW2. - A great Christmas Gift.
