Where trains have the advantage is on long distance. Fine, they cannot go
door to door, but how many drivers and how many trucks would it take to move
200 containers from Perth to Adelaide? 8 train drivers will do the job,
would take 200 truck drivers to do the same job (assuming 2 containers per
B-double, and two drivers per truck running continuously) or 100 drivers
over twice the time (assuming they obey the rules regarding driving hours
(ROFL!)).

Easy to see where the cost advantage lies.
