SS44 & SSAF27 back at Keswick

Wooden cars SS44 (Prince of Wales car) and SSAF27 (Governor General car)
were returned to Keswick during the week. They had been stored at Port
Augusta for the last 12 months. Both cars in very poor condition showing a
lot of exterior damage caused by weathering and water.

SS44 has water stains on its louvres suggesting that the roof is leaking.
Concertina rubbers are also badly damaged and it is need to a good paint.

SSAF27 is even worse. The roof is braking up and clearly leaking water. The
blinds are down, but a quick look under one gave me the impression that all
the lounge chairs have been removed from the car. It needs a lot of work
before its going to run in service again.

Does anyone know why they have been returned to Keswick? Is work going to be
done on them, or are they going to be allowed to deteriate even further.
It's a big pity to see both cars in this condition after all the work
Australian National did doing them up in 1988 and 1991.
