federation square, platform 14

Hi All,

does anyone know what the world is happening behind platform 14 at flinders 
street station underneath the federation square project? whatever they are 
doing there, what is it and what is it going to be used for? they seem to 
be doing a lot of work there...

aside of that, i notice that the escalator works are beginning to get well 
underway on platform 6+7, what is going to happen when they reach platform 
4+5 once again? When the resurfacing works went on it certainly created a 
big mess of the inner city train system for the northern group lines. With 
that, what is the possibility physically of linking platform 2 up to the 
city loop? There does not seem to be anything stopping it from being done 
from what i have seen. Because for the esalator works, they wont be able to 
run trains through platform 4+5 like they did when the resurfacing works 
went on...
