UK Co buys National Bus (Aust)

Nobody seems to have noted here that the UK long-haul bus company,
National Express, has bought the Australian urban bus operator, National
Bus for about $A 45 million (ŁUK 13.5 million).

National Bus runs many of the former Met (nee M&MTB) bus routes in
Melbourne following their privatisation by the Kennett state government,
and also runs buses in Sydney and Brisbane according to a news report
in, of all places, the business section of the New Zealand Herald today.

The report, sourced to the Bloomberg news agency, says National Express
wants to reduce its dependence on the UK market and plans to bid for US
and Australian bus companies as they are privatised.
