I have not seen anyone give the REAL reason on why the tram and train
operators, and the PTC, are making so much fuss wanting you to
re-validate the Metcard tickets.   The REAL reason is that all revenues
from the sale of the Metcards is going to the One-Link consortium, and
the tram and train operating divisions (Swanston-Yarra-Hillside-Bayside)
do not get any of that credited to their accounts unless the ticket is
validated in one of their machines.   Therefore, even though you have a
valid Metcard none of the revenue goes to anyone other than One-Link
unless it is validated on each car or at each ststion.  This is also the
case on the various bus systems accepting Metcard.
