I had the pleasure of travelling past on the 23:36 Central - Cronulla (which
left Platform 22 on time and ran on the Illa Local to Meeks Road).  The
train guard suggested that, since there had been no sign of ambulance or
other rescue persons, there had been no driver.  The location, about 30
metres north of the Princes Highway bridge, suggested that the car had come
from the back of premises in Sydney Park Road, not from the highway.

Since there were no delays around 23:36, I guess this must have occurred
several hours earlier.  There was a four-car Tangara with no lights sitting
in Sydenham Platform 5.
