Coming into the city from Hurstville on a Waterfall service we crossed
to the up main as usual at Wolli Ck then after a slow crawl crossed back
to the up suburban between Tempe and Sydenham. Slowly made our way to
Sydenham and then on the crossovers on the city of Sydenham were crossed
back to the usual track. 
What I don't understand is which points could have failed to cause the
train to be diverted off a line onto to another and then 2km down the
line to be diverted back to the original line.
Any ideas?
