More bad news for Transrapid in Germany

A study has been issued in Germany that a Transrapid line from Hamburg
to Berlin would cause an annual deficit between 72 and over 100 million
DEM to German Rail (Deutsche Bahn AG) [1].

The study’s author is Rudolf Breimeier, a former secretary in a
government department. Breimeier has worked at German Rail, too, where
he was responsible for the assessment of large scale infrastructure
projects.

German newspapers also reported that in German Rail’s board of directors
a majority against Transrapid was possible [2].

It seems like even state-owned German Rail is more and more unwilling to
adopt Transrapid for reason of state.

After the reports of less passengers and higher costs [3] this means
even more bad news for Transrapid in its homeland.

These facts may cause Transrapid backers in Australia to make statements
that (politely speaking) cannot be confirmed.
