Sounds like a truly awful trip bit I remember a trip on the Midlander (WAGR)
way back in 1969 when we ran 3 1/2 hours late into Geraldton making for a
civilised arrival. As for the late running, in days of old we just trotted out
another set of cars and departed on time crossing the errant train somewhere.
This is now the efficient 90's (no spare carriages) and cancellation seems the
only way to get back on time. Reminds me of the stories (yarns) about how if
all the trains were cancelled then the railway administration would be truly
efficient.
