Railway Construction Costs.

For those of you interested in this sort of thing , a good report to read is
http://www.ncc.gov.au/nationalcompet/part%20iiia/rail/Robe%20River/Consultants%20Report/Consultants%20report.htm
(sorry for the length of the URL.)

This report gives a good insight into the costs of building a new railway line
and the assumptions and requirements of such things as to how many crossing
loops are needed to handle so many tonnes per annum.

Whilst the example relates to the costs of building Pilbara type lines with
track weights of 68 kg/m it is equally relevant to most modern lines using
60 kg/m rail on concrete.
