Not so much "lifted" as "sunk". On one of the last occasions I saw
the track beyond the powerhouse used as a normal rail track, with 3801
running shuttle services, you could be forgiven for thinking that the
rails had disappeared into the accumulated mud and slush. They
looked more like a tram track then than the current "tram" line
which is fully ballasted and above ground!
